Community Lab User Agreement
The following text outlines the conditions to which all lab users must agree. Consent to these conditions is implied whether you choose to read it or not, and no second chances are given.
Policy Changes
- This policy is likely to change over time. Please review it every time you create a lab reservation.
Reservations
-
One active reservation is allowed per user. A user cannot create a new reservation until his or her current reservation has expired or been deleted. Creating multiple reservations under fake user accounts will get your IP block permanently barred from accessing the lab, guaranteed.
-
A user may only make use of lab gear covered by his or her reservation (identified by the associated device block(s)), and is responsible for changes made to equipment during the length of that reservation.
-
Lab access is provided free of charge. Users are prohibited from selling or otherwise bartering reservations to others. Users may swap reservations only by deleting their existing reservations and creating new ones.
Lab Gear
-
Access to lab gear is provided via remote physical console to offer complete control of a device. Under no circumstance may a user format, delete or otherwise corrupt or alter a software image stored on a device (typically on a Flash filesystem). Attempting to do so is to guarantee getting your membership revoked and your entire city/organization/country being blocked from accessing the lab (stretch will do that, he's kind of a dick). No second chances will be given.
-
A few lab devices exist for operational support and subsequently are not offered for public use. Users are prohibited from attempting to gain administrative access to any device not explicitly indicated for use in the public lab topology.
-
If you want to configure AAA and/or line passwords, please set any and all passwords to "cisco". Remember that your reserved devices are protected by your remote console password for the duration of your reservation, so there is no need to configure unique passwords on the devices themselves. Setting any and all device passwords to a predictable string will save the next user the trouble of performing password recovery should you forget to wipe your configs before your reservation ends.
-
Restore devices to their default configurations (e.g.
write erase) before the end of your reservation as a courtesy to other users. -
Do not power down devices. Power control is provided solely for power-cycling devices. Permanently powering down devices is a nuisance for the next person who uses the lab and is not allowed. If you wish to isolate a device from the lab for the duration of your reservation, simply shut down all its interfaces.
Logging
- Console activity during reservations may be logged and archived. It is recommended that users not apply configurations with any sensitive real-world credentials or other information.
